Manufacturing engineering

Performance-driven engineering aligned with real-world production

At K&S, engineering is not separate from manufacturing — it defines it. Our team evaluates design intent, process capability, and production efficiency before a part ever reaches the shop floor. By aligning engineering with execution, we reduce risk, eliminate waste, and deliver reliable results from quote through production.

Engineering culture

Precision starts with how we think

At K&S, it’s not just what we do — it’s how we do it. Manufacturing engineering is embedded into our culture. It’s a philosophy of continuous improvement combined with a performance-based mindset applied to every component we produce.

Our engineering team evaluates each project through four critical metrics: Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. These are not abstract goals — they are measurable standards that guide decision-making at every stage.

By integrating engineering review early in the quoting and tooling process, we identify cost drivers, manufacturability challenges, and tolerance considerations before production begins. This proactive approach strengthens consistency and eliminates unnecessary downstream revisions.

The result is a smoother transition from concept to production, fewer deviations after launch, and dependable, cost-competitive parts for our OEM partners.

Predictive performance

Engineering beyond “can it be made?”

Most fabricators can determine whether a part can physically be manufactured. At K&S, we go further.

Our Predictive Tolerance Modeling (PTM) system analyzes part prints to evaluate not only feasibility, but statistical performance against specified tolerances. Many design tolerances are placed without fully understanding how they impact process capability or cost. Left unaddressed, this can lead to excessive reject rates, costly design revisions, or production instability.

Using PTM, we evaluate expected reject rates (PPM levels) before production begins. We then work collaboratively with customer engineering teams to determine tolerance strategies that balance performance requirements with cost efficiency.

By fully understanding our process capability and applying predictive modeling early, K&S moves seamlessly from quote to launch — minimizing risk, avoiding post-production changes, and delivering low-PPM, cost-effective components.
